The Office of Event Management produces special events in celebration of major gifts, building groundbreakings, building dedications, and other campus milestones. In addition, it produces the following annual events:
- Commencement
- New Student Convocation: Formal welcome for all incoming freshmen and transfer students where members of the University community will articulate and rededicate themselves to the shared values of the university – free inquiry, intellectual honesty, personal integrity, and respect for human dignity.
- Chancellor’s Distinguished Lecture Series: Free public lectures featuring personalities from the letters, the sciences, the arts and other sectors of society.
- Chancellor’s Associates Gala and Annual Evening of Recognition: A formal dinner to honor and thank those individuals and organizations that have demonstrated extraordinary commitment to UCR.
- Annual Alumni Awards of Distinction Banquet: Honoring UCR's alumni and volunteers for exceptional achievement and service.
- Emeritus Faculty Awards Breakfast: Recognizing and thanking UCR's emeritus faculty for their continuing commitment to the University.
- Staff Recognition Awards Ceremony: Recognizing members of UCR's staff for career excellence, and campus and community service.
- Campus Memorial: Remembering faculty, staff, retirees, students, and special friends who have passed away in the proceeding year.
- Bourns Science and Engineering Day: A day of exploration into UCR's science and engineering programs, where high school students who excel in the sciences are invited to campus for a day long program featuring presentations, demonstrations, and lab tours led by UCR faculty and researchers. Sponsored by The Bourns Foundation.
- Sweeney Arts Day: A celebration of the arts at UCR, where high school students who excel in creative writing, dance, music, theatre, and visual art are invited to campus for a daylong program featuring UCR faculty and students. Sponsored by Jack and Marilyn Sweeney.
